Our comprehensive frame selection offers an extensive variety of designer and budget-friendly options to suit every face shape, lifestyle, and preference. At Desert Vision Optometry, we believe everyone deserves to look and feel confident in their eyewear choice.

We take precise measurements to ensure optimal fit and comfort while considering your prescription needs and daily activities. Our streamlined process makes selecting new frames enjoyable and stress-free, helping you find eyewear that perfectly complements your unique style.
Eye Exams
Your vision changes gradually over time, making regular eye exams essential for maintaining clear sight and detecting problems before they affect your quality of life. Many serious conditions like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy develop silently, showing no symptoms until significant damage has occurred. Professional screenings catch these issues early when treatment options are most effective and outcomes are typically better.
Our optometrist begins each appointment with a detailed discussion of your visual concerns, lifestyle needs, and family history. We then perform comprehensive testing using state-of-the-art equipment to measure eye pressure, assess retinal health, and evaluate your prescription accuracy. At Desert Vision Optometry, we provide detailed explanations of all findings and work with you to develop a personalized care plan that fits your specific needs.
LASIK Eye Co-Management
LASIK eye co-management combines the expertise of specialized surgeons with the ongoing care and familiar relationship you have with our local optometrist. This collaborative approach ensures you receive the highest level of surgical precision while maintaining continuity of care throughout your vision correction journey. Desert Vision Optometry partners with leading refractive surgeons to provide seamless coordination from initial consultation through complete recovery.
We handle your pre-operative evaluation, determining your candidacy and preparing detailed measurements that guide the surgical planning process. Following your procedure, we provide all necessary follow-up appointments to monitor healing progress and address any concerns that arise during recovery. Our comprehensive LASIK eye co-management program eliminates the need to travel long distances for routine post-surgical care while ensuring optimal results.
On-Site Lab
Having an on-site lab means your eyewear is crafted right here in our facility by skilled technicians who understand the importance of precision and quality. This eliminates the delays and potential issues that come with shipping lenses to external laboratories, often reducing your wait time from weeks to just days. Our in-house capabilities allow us to maintain strict quality control standards while offering competitive pricing on custom lens work.
Desert Vision Optometry’s optometrist works directly with our lab team to ensure your prescription specifications are executed perfectly the first time. We handle everything from basic lens edging to complex rimless mountings and specialized coatings using professional-grade equipment. Our on-site lab enables us to accommodate rush orders, make adjustments immediately, and provide same-day service for many common lens needs.
Diabetic Retinopathy Screenings
Diabetes affects blood vessels throughout your body, including the delicate vessels in your retina that can leak or become blocked without causing any pain or vision changes initially. Diabetic retinopathy screenings use specialized imaging to detect these microscopic changes before they progress to vision-threatening stages. Early identification through regular monitoring allows for timely intervention that can preserve your sight for years to come.
Our comprehensive screening process involves dilating your pupils and capturing detailed photographs of your retinal blood vessels using advanced digital imaging technology. Our optometrist carefully analyzes these images for signs of swelling, bleeding, or abnormal blood vessel growth that indicate diabetic damage. At Desert Vision Optometry, we coordinate closely with your diabetes care team to ensure any findings are promptly addressed and properly managed as part of your overall health plan.
Digital Retina Imaging
Digital retina imaging captures high-resolution photographs of the back of your eye, creating a permanent record that allows us to track subtle changes over time that might otherwise go unnoticed. This advanced technology reveals details about your retinal health, blood vessel patterns, and optic nerve condition with remarkable clarity and precision. The images serve as a baseline for future comparisons, helping identify potential problems years before they would typically become apparent through traditional examination methods alone.
We use state-of-the-art cameras to photograph your retina through dilated pupils, creating detailed images that your optometrist reviews immediately during your appointment. Desert Vision Optometry stores these digital records securely in your patient file, allowing us to monitor progression of any findings and share images with specialists when referrals become necessary. Our digital retina imaging process is comfortable, quick, and provides invaluable documentation that enhances the quality of your ongoing eye care.

Meet the Doctor

Dr. George Saunders
Dr. George Saunders chose optometry because he witnessed firsthand how vision problems can limit someone’s independence and enjoyment of life. After completing his biochemistry studies at UC Riverside, he pursued his doctorate at Southern California College of Optometry with a clear goal of helping patients maintain their sight throughout their lives. His early career at Redlands Eye Medical Group exposed him to the most complex cases, working directly with surgeons who handled corneal transplants and cataract procedures that often represented patients’ last hope for restored vision.
Now with three decades of private practice experience as an optometrist, Dr. Saunders has developed an intuitive understanding of how subtle changes in vision can signal larger health issues, allowing him to catch problems that other practitioners might miss during routine examinations.

Dr. Marisol Hernandez
Dr. Hernandez is originally from Northern California, and has lived in Southern California since 2005. FAQs
When should I bring my children for their first eye exam?
Children should have their first comprehensive eye exam with an optometrist by age three, even if they show no obvious vision issues or symptoms. Many vision problems develop silently during early childhood and can significantly impact learning and development if left undetected. Early detection allows us to address problems when treatment options are most effective and before they affect your child’s quality of life in school and play activities.
What are the warning signs that indicate I need to see an eye doctor immediately?
Sudden changes in vision, persistent eye pain, flashing lights, or the appearance of new floaters require immediate attention from an experienced optometrist. These symptoms can indicate serious conditions that need prompt treatment to prevent permanent vision loss. Our welcoming environment ensures you feel comfortable discussing any concerns, no matter how minor they may seem to you.
How does computer use affect my vision and what can be done about it?
Extended computer use commonly causes digital eye strain, which includes symptoms like dry eyes, blurred vision, and headaches that can reduce your overall quality of life. Our approach to eye health includes specific treatments for computer vision syndrome, such as specialized lenses and eye exercises that provide relief. The attentive team of optometrists at our practice understands how modern work demands affect your eyes and can recommend practical solutions that fit your daily routine.
What makes comprehensive eye exams different from basic vision screenings?
Comprehensive eye exams conducted by an optometrist involve detailed testing of eye health, peripheral vision, and early disease detection that basic screenings cannot provide. Vision screenings only check if you can see clearly at a distance, while comprehensive exams can detect conditions like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy before they cause noticeable symptoms.
How often should adults have their vision checked as they age?
Adults over forty should see an optometrist annually because age-related vision changes accelerate during this period and can affect daily activities without obvious warning signs. Regular comprehensive eye exams become increasingly important as you age because early detection of conditions like macular degeneration can preserve your independence and quality of life for years to come.
