Growing up in the Inland Empire instilled strong community values that still guide his practice today. His academic journey began with biochemistry at UC Riverside, building the scientific foundation that would serve him throughout his career. Optometry school at Southern California College of Optometry provided clinical skills, but real mastery came through six intensive years at Redlands Eye Medical Group.
Working directly with surgical specialists exposed him to conditions and techniques that transformed his diagnostic capabilities. Twenty-nine years of private practice followed, each year adding layers of experience and patient relationships. Now at Desert Vision Optometry, Dr. Saunders continues evolving, constantly updating his knowledge to provide the most advanced care possible.

Dr. Hernandez is originally from Northern California, and has lived in Southern California since 2005. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from California State University Los Angeles and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Western University of Health Sciences. Her externship sites include: the Eye Care Institute WesternU Health Los Angeles, Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Tennessee, and private practices in California and Arizona.
